I spent a good part of my winter break getting my everyday makeup routine down to a T. Doing my makeup is a huge stress reliever for me, and I love finding and testing out new products. One of my goals for 2017 is to do my makeup every day, and I think I found the perfect routine that is feasible for before classes. This is how I manage to look like this everyday, although generally with a lighter shade of liquid lipstick:
So let’s get started on how to make yourself look a little less ghostly if you’re also pale AF like me!
The first thing I do is prime my face with the NYX First Base Primer Spray. I have only been using this for a couple of days but I can already tell that it makes my foundation last longer! Then I apply my favorite Chapstick (not pictured) to prime my lips for liquid lipstick. When I came home for winter break, I realized that I left my foundation at school — not my finest moment. However, this gave me the perfect opportunity to try a new one! I ended up purchasing the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in the shade Snow. My main concern with my skin is redness, and this foundation does the perfect job of covering it up while still looking natural. I apply it with a damp Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge by dabbing the product onto my face. To cover up my dark under eyes, I use the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in the shade Fair Neutral. I apply this to the tops of my eyelids to conceal veins if I’m not wearing eyeshadow that day. I also use the damp sponge to blend this into my skin.
To set my foundation, I use the Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in the shade Light Plus using the Real Techniques Blush Brush. I have pretty dry skin, but this powder doesn’t accentuate that at all! I focus it on top of the concealer under my eyes, and sparingly place some more on the rest of my face.
To add some life back into my skin, I use the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in the shade Glisten. The shade gives a natural glow to my face and I always get compliments on it! To apply it, I use the Sonia Kashuk no. 123 brush.
Now it’s time for my favorite part, highlighting! I’ve attempted contouring before but I quite honestly suck at it, so it’s not a part of my daily routine. However, I’ve been obsessed with the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in the shade Opal since I bought it over the summer. I lightly dust it on the high points of my cheeks with my MUA Professional Fan Brush.
Recently I’ve been super lazy when it comes to eye makeup. I’ve only been using mascara, which is rare for me. Normally I love doing eyeshadow and dread doing face makeup, but it’s been the opposite for the past few months! For my top lashes, I use the Soap and Glory Thick & Fast HD Mascara that my friend, Sammy, brought back for me from London! For my lower lashes, I’ve been using the Pixi by Petra Lower Lash Mascara (inspired by Aspyn Ovard’s videos, clearly).
Lips have been the most versatile part of my makeup routine! My favorite natural shades of liquid lipstick have been Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita, Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Firenze, Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in Bestie, Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Chihuahua, NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes, and NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in Bedtime Flirt.
I may not be the next Casey Holmes, but I really enjoy the time I spend doing my makeup every day! I’ve gotten this routine down to about 10 or 15 minutes, which isn’t too bad if I do say so myself! I hope to keep experimenting with my makeup, and maybe 2017 will finally be the year when I learn how to contour.
