Fall Skincare Routine Featuring Clarisonic

This is a sponsored post in partnership with Clarisonic and Her Campus Media. All words and opinions are my own.

Clarisonic // http://laurensjourney.comAs a teenager, I was handed anxiety instead of acne. My skin has never been bad so I didn’t think it was necessary to have a skincare routine. I also was nervous to try out new products since my skin is extremely sensitive. Two weeks ago, at the age of twenty, I finally developed a routine. Let me tell you, it is lifechanging! Consistently cleansing my face with great quality products has resulted in me having visibly softer skin. I went from wearing foundation every day to only twice within the last week. I feel confident bare-faced and I have this regimen to thank for that!

Step One

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water // http://laurensjourney.com

Remove Makeup. On days that I wear makeup, I apply Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water onto a cotton round and gently wipe my mascara off. I use a second cotton round to wipe off my foundation and other face products. This is the only makeup remover I’ve found that doesn’t leave me with raccoon eyes!

Step Two

Cleanse Face. I use the Clarisonic Mia 1 with their Refreshing Gel Cleanser. The Mia 1 comes with the Radiance Brush Head, and the Acne and Deep Pore Brush Heads are available for $27 each. My favorite brush head to use is Radiance, as I don’t have specific skin problems.

First, I wet my face and the brush head with warm water. After applying the Gel Cleanser to the brush, it’s time to turn it on! The Mia runs for one minute which is the perfect amount of time to cleanse your entire face. I gently move it in circular motions from my forehead, then to my nose, and finally on my cheeks.

Since I am not an expert on the science behind Clarisonic, I’ll let the brand explain it to you:

The bristles of a Clarisonic cleansing brush head move back and forth, or “oscillate”, gently flexing the skin and flushing water and cleanser into pores. This sonic cleansing process removes the dirt, oil and debris that ages your skin and causes breakouts. Because Clarisonic facial cleansing devices don’t exfoliate – a common myth! – Clarisonic is gentle enough for twice-daily use, even on the most sensitive skin.

Clarisonic is correct when they say it is suitable even for the most sensitive skin! I was nervous to try out the Mia and a new cleanser due to my tendency to get itchy from new products. I’m happy to say that the Clarisonic products have only had a positive effect on my skin. My face feels noticeably cleaner after using these products, a change from other cleansers I’ve used in the past. I no longer feel like I’m using a face wash just to use it, I can really feel the difference in my skin.

Step Three

CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion // http://laurensjourney.com

Moisturize. After patting my face dry, I apply the CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion all over. The moisturizer quickly absorbs into my skin and doesn’t leave it feeling sticky.

Step Four

Repeat twice daily! I do this before I shower in the morning (opting to use my moisturizer after the shower) and before I go to bed at night.

Step Five

Admire your new skin! Here are my (mugshot-like) before and after photos!

My skin is softer and shine-free! After not having a skincare routine for my entire life, there are visible differences in my skin. I’m not sure why I didn’t try this earlier, but it’s never too late to start a positive habit!
