Updated Everyday Makeup Routine

This Thanksgiving break I decided to get rid of all of my makeup. Okay, not all of my makeup, but all of the things I have been hoarding since high school. Now I can fit all of my makeup in one large makeup bag! After my makeup purge, I only own the essentials for my eyes and face. I still own a lot of lip products but I do frequently use different shades (at least that’s how I justify it).

My everyday makeup routine takes about ten minutes! Doing my makeup is therapeutic for me so I don’t mind taking that time in the morning. I truly stand behind all of the products I use, I mean, I got rid of pretty much everything else I owned. So are you ready to see how I transform from the left side of the above picture to the right side?

Prime My Face

I use the NYX First Base Primer Spray. I am actually almost out of it so I need to pick up a new one! This product is great because it creates a barrier between my skin and my makeup. I find that I get less acne when I use this product.

Foundation, Concealer, and Powder

My favorite foundation is the Revlon Colorstay for Normal/Dry skin in the shade 150 (Buff). I like it better than other high-end foundations that I’ve used in the past and it’s only about $9! I dab this into my skin using a damp Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I use the Tarte Shape Tape concealer in Fair Neutral underneath my eyes and blend it in using the sponge. I then apply the Revlon Colorstay Pressed Powder in Translucent all over my face using a Real Techniques blush brush.

I use the Anastasia #12 brush with the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Soft Brown to fill in my eyebrows. I first brush through my brows with the spoolie side of the brush. Then I lightly outline the bottom of my brows using the product. I use short strokes to fill in the rest of my eyebrow. I finish it off by brushing through my eyebrows again to blend out the product.

Eyeshadow and Mascara

First, I prime my eyes using Urban Decay Primer Potion. I then follow a tutorial from one of my favorite YouTubers, lindseyrem! I use eyeshadows from the Tartlette palette to create a natural look. I start by applying Free Spirit from my lid up until my eyebrow using a fluffy brush. Then, I take Force of Nature and apply it all over my lid and into my crease. Using a dense, flat brush, I take Dreamer and apply it starting lighter in the middle of my eye and darker in the outer corner. I then use another fluffy brush to blend it together. Using Super Mom, I highlight my browbone. I finish off my eye look by applying L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly mascara. Lindsey does a much better job of explaining how to apply the eyeshadow so I suggest watching her tutorial!

Contour, Blush, and Highlight

I am no expert at contouring so I do it very lightly! I use the Becca bronzer in Bali Sands with the Sephora #54 brush. I then apply Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Paaarty using the Sonia Kashuk #123 brush. Finally, I highlight my cheekbones with the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal with an Ecotools fan brush.

My favorite lipstick is Tarte’s Color Splash Lipstick in Salt Lyfe. I love how mauve lipsticks compliment my skin tone so this is the perfect shade for me. It’s super creamy and stays on for a long time.

Finishing Spray

I can’t live without Urban Decay All Nighter Spray! My makeup lasts forever with this on. I just have to make sure my mascara is dry before applying this otherwise it will run down my face.

And that is it, folks, my fool-proof makeup routine. I promise it’s easy as heck and anyone can do it. Let me know if you try any of the products out!

  • I’ve been wanting to try Shape Tape but am so hesitant about the price tag. Is it worth it!? Does it still crease under your eyes??

    • I personally love it! I’ve had mine for at least six months and it’s not close to being empty. It doesn’t crease at all!
